Choosing support
Hatch Flex vs Hatch Hire: which support fits your business?
Choose Hatch Flex for clearly briefed, asynchronous tasks within a 20-hour monthly package per offshore team member. Choose Hatch Hire when you need your own full-time or part-time team member for an ongoing role. The decision depends on responsibility and availability as well as workload.
“I need help” can mean two very different things. You might need a batch of graphics delivered each month. Or you might need someone working alongside your business every day, learning its customers, systems and priorities.
Both are sensible needs. Buying the wrong type of support is where the frustration starts. Here is how Team Hatch’s two models compare.
The practical comparison
| Question | Hatch Flex | Hatch Hire |
|---|---|---|
| What am I buying? | 20 hours a month of task-based support per offshore team member | Recruitment of your own full-time or part-time team member |
| How does the work run? | Brief tasks and receive outputs asynchronously | Agree an ongoing role, hours and working rhythm |
| Who does the work? | A primary matched team member within a shared pool | The person you select for your dedicated role |
| Team Hatch fee | A$449 + GST monthly per offshore team member | A$4,500 + GST once per offshore team member |
| Other costs? | Optional 10-hour top-up: A$199 + GST for that team member | Salary and applicable employment costs are separate; optional EOR support is additional |
| Best reason to choose it? | The work can be packaged into clear, occasional tasks | You need sustained ownership of a role |

When Flex makes sense
Flex can suit a recurring design queue, a small batch of video edits, admin overflow or defined bookkeeping tasks. You provide the information and the brief; your matched team member works through the agreed tasks.
For example, a business with approved content and brand templates might need help producing its social graphics. The inputs are ready, deadlines can be planned and there is no requirement for someone to sit in a live support queue.
Flex is asynchronous, with a standard 48-hour turnaround for most tasks. Confirm complex work and urgent deadlines in advance. The package is a time allowance, not a promise of a fixed number of finished videos, designs or reports. Complexity and revisions affect what fits.
You can cancel anytime under the Flex offering. A shared-pool arrangement does not mean you have purchased exclusive availability or every specialist skill at once. Match the person and the task to the relevant capability.
When Hire makes sense
Hire is for a role that needs continuity: an editor supporting a regular production schedule, an EA coordinating your working day, a customer support team member covering agreed hours or an accounts assistant maintaining an ongoing workflow.
You choose full-time or part-time based on the work. Team Hatch helps scope the role, recruit, assess candidates and support your selection. The A$4,500 + GST placement fee is the same for either arrangement. Your team member’s salary is separate.
Hire includes a six-month replacement guarantee, subject to the terms. You still need to provide direction, access, onboarding and regular feedback. Recruiting someone is not the same as buying a fully managed department.
Three questions to make the choice easier
- Does somebody need to be available at particular times? Live customer enquiries and daily coordination point towards an agreed dedicated role.
- Can you describe the output before work begins? Clear, self-contained tasks can fit Flex. Work involving changing priorities and ongoing responsibility may need Hire.
- Is there enough regular work, and can you onboard it? A backlog alone does not prove you need a full-time role. Look at what continues after the backlog is cleared.
If Flex usage is consistently high, review the scope and compare a dedicated role. More hours do not automatically make Hire cheaper; the salary, placement fee, employment arrangement and length of engagement all affect the calculation.
Where does Hatch Compliance fit?
Hatch Compliance is optional EOR support, separate from the recruitment fee. The service fee is A$350 + GST per month, per offshore team member, with salary and employment costs additional. It can support a Hire placement or a person you have already found.
Our Philippines EOR partner, SOS, handles legal employment and payroll administration. Team Hatch coordinates invoicing and support. Discuss the appropriate engagement structure for your circumstances; a product name on its own does not decide your legal obligations.
